## Intro
I've been a patreon subscriber for Kuru figure for a while now although I have never gotten around to actually printing any of the models even though many look good on screen. I first discovered Kuru through Bulkamancer, and I have printed a couple from Bulkamancer and love the quality there so I figured I should give Kuru a shot.

### Color Choices
- [x] Finish noting specific colors before I forget on Asuka #hobbies/models 📅 2024-10-30 ✅ 2024-11-05
For skin, Mr. Lascivus white peach (base) + clear pale orange (shadows).
For her suit, red is first coat barbados rex anodized red #1 metallic, second coat was barbados rex led astray red because the first didn't seem red enough.
The hair was a mix of a few colors all in roughly equal portions - Vallejo mahogony, mud brown, and red. These were all model air colors I had on hand.
The base is a mix, maybe not as exciting. Some blood red type colors, blacks. Bone white. I used citadel wash (I forget the name but a common one) all over - still trying to get used to how to use that and how heavily.
### Print Quality
Unfortunately I was slightly disappointed in the quality. It looks good and has a good overall design, but the fit was definitely not as good as Bulkamancer. There were some significant gaps for both the legs and arms attaching to the torso after printing. Ultimately, I figured it would be easiest to go ahead and glue and putty before priming - luckily on this kit the majority will use the same base red so it shouldn't make painting any more difficult, but the fit of the parts was definitely an area for improvement in a few places.
As it was sliced, the weapon was also a bit of a problem. It was too long to print the spear on my Saturn 4 Ultra. In my opinion Kuru should have designed things to at least be printable on a printer of this size - it's basically a mid or mid-large home printer - certainly not one of the smaller units. Users should not have to own the absolute largest units to print split parts. I had to split the spear in half on my own and guess where and then glue back together in her hand. It worked out, but Kuru really should've done in that way to begin with.
### Progress
Too purple at first from the first red, went back over with the LED red.

## Lessons Learned
- **Maybe don't avoid masking too much:** Lately on kits I've been doing as little masking as possible. I think, I'll base coat the big areas and then brush paint others. It does work for the most part, but there are challenges. For instance, I went back to paint the orange on the "tape" looking repair areas on suit. It took a fair amount of time/layers to try and get it added, and in the end it's not as smooth looking as if I air brushed it. Maybe in this case, I should've airbrushed, although masking would have been annoying to do.
- **Add glue before weathering stuff:** I forget what it's called, but I have these weathering dust things from MIG and a jar of liquid to glue/seal them in place. I never really read how to use them all, but I found on this kit adding the rust first to the pipes sticking out of the ground didn't really work - it wouldn't stay in place and just fell (gravity, you know). I then reversed order and added the sealant stuff first, then put some dust on with brush. What do you know, it stuck and didn't fall!
