## Intro Another resin kit printed and painted. This version of 2B was purchased on cgtrader.com. It was a pretty decent print based on my very minimum printing experience. The parts did have a bit of trouble going together smoothly without gaps so I did have to spend some time trying to improve them. I did miss the neck where it joins the head unfortunately, and by the time I realized it wasn’t a great fit I had already painted so I’m just going to leave it as is for now. I did a reverse wash on her clothing, haven’t done too much of that but it turned out well I think. The biggest challenge is the top white was pretty hard to get back to a strong white – I had painted the skin color over it and probably should’ve at least masked off the parts that I wasn’t doing reverse wash. Instead, I was lazy and didn’t mask, figured I’d get it off as part of reverse wash but it took a lot more time than if I had masked I’m sure. This was also the first kit I used static grass on. I’ve wanted to for a long time and still have plans for kits I did years ago but never put on a base. It was relatively easy to do. Will do again. ## Photos ![IMG_4006](https://www.mechamodels.com/wp-content/uploads/completed-works/figures/2b-nier-automata/IMG_4006-1200x1800.png) ![[IMG_4036.png]] ![[IMG_4006.png]] ![[IMG_4007.png]] ![[IMG_4032.png]] ![[IMG_4039.jpg]] ![[IMG_4037.jpg]] ![[IMG_4038.jpg]] ![[IMG_4035.jpg]] ![[IMG_4033.jpg]] ![[IMG_4034.jpg]] ![[IMG_4031.jpg]] ![[IMG_4008.jpg]] ![[IMG_4009.jpg]] ![[IMG_4010.jpg]] ![[IMG_4011.jpg]] ![[IMG_4012.jpg]] ![[IMG_4013.jpg]] ![[IMG_4014.jpg]] ![[IMG_4015.jpg]] ![[IMG_4016.jpg]] ![[IMG_4017.jpg]] ![[IMG_4018.jpg]] ![[IMG_4019.jpg]] ![[IMG_4020.jpg]] ![[IMG_4021.jpg]] ![[IMG_4022.jpg]] ![[IMG_4023.jpg]] ![[IMG_4024.jpg]] ![[IMG_4025.jpg]] ![[IMG_4026.jpg]] ![[IMG_4027.jpg]] ![[IMG_4028.jpg]] ![[IMG_4029.jpg]] ![[IMG_4030.jpg]] ## Lessons Learned - **reverse wash is good, but still mask.** Reverse wash is great for intricate detail sections such as the chest and top of legs here. However, don’t be lazy next time and mask anything not undergoing reverse wash. Her stomach for instance should’ve been masked to make things go faster. Paint thinner removes it like expected with the wash, but it takes a bit of work especially with a lighter top color than the bottom color. - **Before painting, ensure parts fit perfectly**. Something I constantly need to be better about. I check fit and do some work, but usually stop short of a perfect fit since I am eager to get to the painting stage. I tell myself, I can make final adjustments later. But then later comes, the kit is fully painted, and it’s too late. Just spend the time upfront to get things right.
