# Intro
This cloud figure was on clearance/sale at E2046. It is a pre-painted "Gathering" figure. I have bought one previously simply to compare to my own work, and thought I would do it again since the price was good ($149 USD delivered, the regular kit requiring build and painting would've been about $65 USD).
In general, for the price it was a great deal. This kit was essentially built and painted for less than $100. Knowing how much effort I put into building and painting kits, it's definitely a good price.
Is the quality actually good as well? I think so. Honestly, comparing to [[Model Site/Figures/14 - Tifa Lockhart/Tifa Lockhart]] that I built and painted myself (~20 hours worth), they aren't that different. I am biased and would like to think Tifa looks a little better, but realistically they look like a good set that could go together. There is some light shadowing on the skin/muscles, although the face is pretty simple outside of a couple details around the eyes. There are a couple shades throughout the outfit that give it a nice look. The edge of the sword has a brighter tone for reflection although it doesn't show well in the images. Overall it's just a clean nice build.
They also made it essentially all magnetic which was nice. I'm sure they do this so they can package it properly and safely ship each piece and let the buyer put it together quickly, but the embedded magnets are done well and seamless. I feel like I should give them a shot on a future kit of mine. I've only done it in a couple places that needed it to be removable, but if they are easy to put in it's nice. It also lets you change out the hand because there is another hand provided as well with a different pose. Packaging overall was fantastic.
Given nobody is going to read this but me, this is not a sales pitch by any means for e2046 gathering. If you find one on sale though and don't want to paint it, the quality I think is pretty good. I've since pre-ordered a couple premium format figures from Sideshow Collectibles that are much, much more expensive because I'm kind of curious now how that compares. Are they actually a lot better than this one (and thus also my own paint jobs) or is the cost in the name for Sideshow? Time will tell. I will grab photos and notes once I get them later this year.
